Wet Dreams

September brought a pinch-yourself moment when Samantha Hemsley Photography was invited onboard the all-new Maserati Multi70 to provide the accompanying pics for leading English-language newspaper Majorca Daily Bulletin’s words.

Designed to fly (that’s right, zero contact with the water) and smash world records, this whopping 21 metre trimaran has enigmatic Italian sailor Giovanni Soldini at the helm, a man who has won awards, saved lives and broken records (and hearts) – a strictly once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“Whilst portraiture is undoubtedly my niche, it’s thrilling to get on the open water and experience the engineering, skill and pure muscle that goes into a racing multihull,” says Samantha.  “So new it’s only been in the water a matter of weeks, we were able to witness a talented multi-nationality racing team test groundbreaking L-foil technology and learn how to get the best from this Maserati-sponsored masterpiece as they geared up for their debut competition - October’s Rolex Middle Sea Race.”

“Having acclimatised myself to balancing on the tricky trampoline, with metres of water rushing beneath, the 90 minute sea trial around the Bay of Palma provided endless opportunities for incredible photography,” finishes Samantha.  “Myself and Bulletin writer, Sarah, were grinning ear-to-ear throughout and can’t wait to see how the Multi70 proves itself in just a few weeks time.”

With the legendary Italian at the helm, anything is possible.
